पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री कृष्णप्रसाद भट्टराईले यो घटनामा तत्कालीन युवराज महेन्द्रको हात रहेको वताएका छन् । पछि आफू राजा बनेपछि सिंहलाई आममाफी दिएर उनैले प्रधानमन्त्री बनाएका कारण भट्टराईको त्यो दावी सत्य नजिक भए जस्तो पनि देखिन्छ । तर यस विषयमा गहन अध्ययन अनुसन्धान नभएकाले महेन्द्रको साथ सहयोगमा सिंहदरवार कव्जा भएको हो भनिहाल्ने तथ्य फेला परेको छैन ।
नेपालको इतिहासमा माघ ८ गते विशेष छ । सत्तरी वर्ष अघि २००८ सालमा यही दिन विद्रोहीले मुलुकको प्रमुख प्रशासनीक निकाय सिंहदरवार २४ घण्टाका लागि कव्जा गरेका थिए ।
राजाहरुले राजनीतिक ‘कु’ मार्फत जननिर्वाचित सरकारलाई च्युत गरी पटक पटक सिंहदरवार कव्जा गरे पनि राणा विरुद्व २००७ सालको क्रान्तिमा लडेको मुक्ति सेनाका विद्रोही अर्थात सर्वसाधारण जनताले सिंहदरबार कब्जा गरेको त्यो नै पहिलो घटना हो ।
यस्तो दुस्साहशिक कदमको नेतृत्व गर्ने व्यक्ति मध्ये एक थिए, पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री डा. के.आई. सिंह र उनलाई साथ दिने अर्का व्यक्ति थिए, मुक्ति सेनाका कमाण्डर रामप्रसाद राई ।
२००७ सालको क्रान्ति रोक्न भएको दिल्ली सम्झौता नमान्ने भनेर भैरहवा मोर्चामा विद्रोह गरेका डा. केआइ सिंहलाई सरकारले पक्राउ गरी थुनामा राखेको थियो । केही समय भैरहवामा राखिएका उनलाई पाल्पा सारियो र त्यहाँबाट रातारात काठमाडौं ल्याई सिंहदरवारमा थुनियो । त्यसै गरी संझौताको विरोधमा रहेका मुक्ति सेनाका कमाण्डरहरु रामप्रसाद राई र अग्निप्रसाद खरेल लगायत अरु केही सदर जेलमा थिए ।
यिनै विद्रोहीहरुको नेतृत्वमा रक्षादलका सिपाहीले राति नै बारुदखाना, तोपखाना, बन्दूकखाना, मुलुकीखाना, प्रमुख सचिवालय लगायत मुख्य मुख्य स्थान कव्जा गरी त्यहाँको टेलिफोन सम्पर्क विच्छेद गरिदिए ।
रक्षा दलमा विद्रोह भएको खवर फैलिएपछि प्रधानमन्त्री मातृकाप्रसाद कोइराला सहित अधिकांश मन्त्री राति नै भागेर नारायणहिटी दरवार पुगे । तर मन्त्री गणेशमान सिंहलाई भने विद्रोहीले आफ्नो कव्जामा लिई हाले । त्यो वेलाको संक्रमणकालीन अवस्थामा राणाको वाहुल्यता रहेको राष्ट्रिय सेना माथि कांग्रेसको विश्वास थिएन । त्यसैले कांग्रेसका तर्फबाट मन्त्री भएकाहरुको सुरक्षाका लागि मुक्ति सेनाबाट रक्षा दलमा परिणत भएको फौजका सदस्यहरुलाई खटाइएको थियो । यसरी आफ्नै वडीगार्डले मन्त्री सिंहलाई कव्जामा लिएका थिए ।
सिंहदरवार कव्जा भएको खुसीयालीमा माघ ९ गते बिहान कम्युनिष्ट पार्टीका कार्यकर्ता गौरीभक्त प्रधान लगायत केही मानिस जीपमा चढेर माइकिङ गर्न थाले ।
उता टुँडिखेलमा राष्ट्रिय सेना तैनाथ भयो, विद्रोहीबाट सिंहदरवार मुक्त गर्ने मिसनका साथ । नारायणहिटी भित्रको फौजलाई सिंहदरवार घेराउ गर्न थप खटाइयो । अपरान्ह्र १२ वजेसम्म अधिकांश विद्रोही पक्राउ परे । झण्डै तीन घण्टा सिंहदरवार भित्र रहेको विद्रोही र टुडिखेल तिर पोजिसन लिएर बसेको सरकारी सेनाका विच दोहोरो फायरिङ भयो ।
केही सैनिक घाइते भए । एकजना नागरिकको मृत्यु भयो । रक्षादलका एक चालक मारिए ।
अन्तमा माघ १० गते डा. के.आई. सिंह सहित विद्रोहीहरु सिंहदरवारको पर्खाल नाघेर भागे । अनी मात्र प्रमुख प्रशासनीक सचिवालय सरकारी सेनाको मातहतमा आयो ।
सिंहदरबार विद्रोहमा सामेल रामप्रसाद राई मारिए । भागेर चीनको शरणमा पुगेका डा केआइ सिंह ६ वर्षपछि २०१४ मा स्वदेश फर्किए । तत्कालीन राजा महेन्द्रले उनलाई आम माफि दिएर वोलाएका थिए र त्यही बर्षको साउनमा उनी मुलुकको प्रधानमन्त्री बनाइए । यसरी सिंहदरवार कव्जा गर्ने विद्रोही १० महिना मुलुकको प्रधानमन्त्री भए ।
