आन्दोलन शुरु भएको २१ दिन पछि बीपी, तारणी, गिरिजाप्रसाद, मनमोहन, गेहेन्द्रहरी शर्मा विकु र युवराज अधिकारीलाई गिरफ्तार गरियो । छोराहरु पक्राउ परे पछि उता विराटनगरमा आमा दिव्या कोइरालाले आन्दोलनको संखघोष गर्नुभयो । आमा दिव्याका साथै कोइराला परिवारका छोरीहरु नलिनी, इन्दिरा, कामिनी समेत थुनिए । त्यो आन्दोलनका क्रममा एक मजदुरको मृत्यु भयो ।
राणा शासनको समयमा २००७ साल अघि जनता नागरिक होइन, रैती समान थिए । अधिकारका लागि आवाज उठाउने स्वतन्त्रतासम्म थिएन । संघ संगठन र राजनीतिक दल खोल्ने अधिकार कल्पना वाहिरकै विषय थियो । विराटनगरमा केही उद्योगहरु खुलेका भए पनि समग्र मुलुक विकासका दृष्टिले अन्धकारमै जकडिएको अवस्था थियो । त्यही वातावरणका विच नागरिक स्वतन्त्रता र श्रमिक अधिकार स्थापनका लागि एउटा संगठनको आवश्यकता महसुश भयो । अनी २००३ सालमा विराटगरमा नेपाल मजदुर संघ गठन गरियो । अध्यक्ष चुनिनुभयो गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइराला ।
नेपाली राजनीतिका शिर्ष नेता गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइराला श्रमिक हक अधिकार स्थापनाका लागि मुलक भित्र भएको पहिलो आन्दोलनका जिवीत साक्षी हुनुहन्छ । मजदुर अधिकारका पक्षमा पहिलो पटक मुलुक भित्र उहाकै नेतृत्वमा आवाज उठाइएको थियो । त्यो आन्दोलनका अगुवाहरु गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइराला, मनमोहन अधिकारी, तारणीप्रसाद कोइराला लगायतले जागिरका लागि मात्र नभै मजदुरहरुलाई संगठित गरी मुलुकमा प्रजातन्त्र वहालीको आन्दोलनका लागि वातावरण वनाउने उद्देश्यका साथ विराटनगर जुटमील, कटनमील र केमिकल्स उद्योगमा जागिर शुरु गर्नु भयो ।
२००३ फागुन २० गते विराटनगरमा शुरु भएको मजदुर आन्दोलनको लक्ष्य श्रमिकहरुको सुविधा वढाउनेमा मात्र केन्द्रीत थिएन, राणा शाहीको अत्य गरी मुलुकमा प्रजातन्त्र वहाली गर्नु समेत रहेको थियो ।
जुटमील आन्दोलनका नेता कोइराला त्यो वेला मात्र २२ वर्षका हुनुहन्थ्यो । जुटमीलको पूर्व पट्टी अवस्थित वर चौतारोमा हरेक साता हाट लाग्ने गथ्यो । मुलुकमा भएको पहिलो आन्दोलनलाई छहारी दिने यो वरको वृक्ष अहिले पनि त्यो ऐतिहासिक घटनाकोे साक्षीका रुपमा रहेको छ । मजदुरहरु यही वोट मुनी जम्मा हुन्थे र सभाको आयोजना गरिन्थ्यो । त्यसैले त आज पनि यो ऐतिहासिक स्थल हडताली हाटको नामले प्रसिद्ध छ ।

सुख्खा तलवमा दैनिक ११ घण्टा काम गर्दै आएका मजदुरहरुले दैनिक ८ घण्टा काम लगाउनु पर्ने माग मात्र राखेका थिए ।
नेपालमा भएको पहिलो संगठित आन्दोलन १०४ वर्षे राणा शासनको अन्त्य गरी २००७ सालमा प्रजातन्त्र वहाली गर्न कोसेढुंगा सावित भयो ।
त्यो आन्दोलनका क्रममा पक्राउ परेका छ मध्ये तीन जना मुलुकको प्रधानमन्त्री बने, बीपी, गिरिजा र मनमोहन ।
२०६२ -०६३ को जनआन्दोलन अघि नेपाल ट्रेड युनियन कांग्रेसका अध्यक्षको आग्रहमा हाम्रो टिमले यो डकुमेन्ट्री बनाएको हो । त्यति बेला जनआन्दोलन चलिरहेको थियो । धेरै पछि मैले थाहा पाए नेपाल ट्रेड युनियन कांग्रेसले त्यो डकुमेन्ट्री हराए छ । मैले खोज्न लगाए । फेला परेन । हालै पुराना डकुमेन्ट खोज्ने क्रममा भेटियो । यो समाग्री नेपालमा मजदुर आन्दोलन र राणा विरोधी क्रान्ति, त्यस पछिका राजनीतिक घटनाक्रम, मजदुरहरुको अवस्था वुझ्न चाहनेहरुका लागि सहयोगी हुन सक्छ ।
