त्यो दिन शीतलनिवासमै रहेका व्यवसायी बी.एल. शर्माले ‘राष्ट्रपिता र म’ नामक पुस्तकमा राजा त्रिभुवनसँग भएको वार्तालाप यसरी लेखेका छन् । नातिलाई राजा बनाएको सूचना पाएपछि उनले शर्मासँग भनेका थिए — ‘ए राजा त हाम्रा नातिलाई पो बनाए छन्, हेर्दै जाऊँ ।’
सात दशकअघिको कुरा हो । विसं २००७ साल कात्तिक तेस्रो सातासम्म आइपुग्दा नेपालमा राणा विरोधी आन्दोलनले उग्ररुप लिइसकेको थियो । यही क्रममा राजा त्रिभुवन सपरिवार काठमाडौंस्थित भारतीय दूतावासमा शरण लिन पुगे । राणाहरुको सातोपुत्लो उड्यो । अनि बिहानैदेखि भएभरका मोटरहरु जाने र फर्किने क्रम अप्रत्याशितरुपमा बढ्यो । उच्चवर्गका राणाहरुसँग मात्र मोटर हुने त्यो समय सहरमा फाट्टफुट्ट गाडी देखिन्थे । तिनताका सिंहदरबारभित्र बन्दी बनाइएका गणेशमान सिंहले ‘मेरो कथाका पानाहरु’ नामको पुस्तकमा रोचक ढंगबाट त्यस दिनको वर्णन गर्दै भनेका छन् — ‘मानौँ सहरका सबै मोटर गाडी सिंहदरबारमा जम्मा भएजस्तो लागिरहेको थियो । लगातार मोटर दरबारमा आएको र फर्किएको आवाज सुनिइरहेको थियो । ठीक त्यही समयको आसपासमा धरहराबाट एकाएक बिगुल बज्न थाल्यो र निक्कै बेरसम्म आवाज आइरह्यो ।
कुनै महत्त्वपूर्ण घोषणा गर्नुपर्दा जंगी, निजामती, साहुमहाजन, सन्तमहन्त र दुनियाँलाई जम्मा हुने उर्दी जारी गर्न राणाहरु यसरी नै बिगुल फुक्न लगाउँथे ।
त्यो दिन चाहिँ राजा त्रिभुवनले (भारतमा) शरण लिएपछिको अवस्थामा कसरी अघि बढ्ने भनेर महाराज मोहनशमशेरले सबै भारदारलाई सिंहदरबारमा जम्मा हुन आदेश गरेका थिए ।
विदेशी दूतावासमा शरण लिन गएका राजालाई के गर्ने ? कसरी अघि बढ्ने ? भन्ने एजेन्डाका साथ ।
सबै भारदार जम्मा भएपछि महाराजले राजाले भारतको शरणमा गएर मुलुकको बेइज्जत गरेको सुनाए । केही बेरको छलफलपछि उनलाई फर्काउन प्रयास गर्ने निर्णय भयो । तर, राणाले अनेक प्रयास गर्दा पनि राजा फर्किन मानेनन् ।
राणाहरु चेपुवामा परे । एकातिर राजगद्दी एकछिन पनि खाली राख्न नहुने परम्परा । अर्कोतिर राजा त्रिभुवन, उनका छोरा महेन्द्र र नाती वीरेन्द्रसहित राजपरिवारका सदस्यहरुले दरबार छाडिसके ।
अब के गर्ने ? राणाहरु संकटमा परे । अन्नतः मामा घरमा छुटेका राजा त्रिभुवनका माइला नाति नाबालक ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई राजा वनाउने निर्णयमा उनीहरु पुगे । अनि त्रिभुवनलाई गद्दीच्युत गरी ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई राजा घोषणा गरियो । श्री ३ को चाहना भएपछि नाइँ नास्ती गर्ने को ? साँडे तीन वर्षका नाबालक ज्ञानेन्द्र राजा भए ।
कात्तिक २२ गते मंगलवार दिनको २.४५ बजे हनुमानढोकाको नासलचोकमा हतारहतार नायब गुरु हेमराज पाण्डेले नाबालक राजा ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई श्रीपेच लगाई राज्यारोहण गराए । यसरी बुबा महेन्द्र र दाजु वीरेन्द्रभन्दा अघि ज्ञानेन्द्र राजा भए ।
परम्पराअनुसार भारदारहरुले दाम राखी नयाँ राजाको दर्शन गरे । समारोहमा बेलायती राजदूत जर्ज फल्कोनर सहभागी भए पनि भारतीय राजदूत चन्द्रेश्वर नारायण सिंह भने उपस्थित भएनन् । नयाँ राजाको राज्यारोहण बारे २००७ साल कात्तिक २३ गते ‘गोर्खापत्र’मा समाचार छापियो — ‘श्री ५ महाराजाधिराज ज्ञानेन्द्र वीर विक्रम शाहको राज्यारोहण, श्री ५ महाराजाधिराज त्रिभुवन वीर विक्रम शाहको पदच्युत । राज्यारोहणपछि दिउँसो तोप पड्कियो । शीतलनिवासस्थित भारतीय दूतावासमा शरण लिइरहेका राजा त्रिभुवन के रहेछ भनेर बार्दलीतिर निस्किए । त्यो दिन शीतलनिवासमै रहेका व्यवसायी बी.एल. शर्माले ‘राष्ट्रपिता र म’ नामक पुस्तकमा राजा त्रिभुवनसँग भएको वार्तालाप यसरी लेखेका छन् । नातिलाई राजा बनाएको सूचना पाएपछि उनले शर्मासँग भनेका थिए — ‘ए राजा त हाम्रा नातिलाई पो बनाए छन्, हेर्दै जाऊँ ।’
नयाँ राजाको नाममा केही टक (सिक्का) पनि काटिए । राज्यारोहणपछि नाबालक राजा ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई हात्ती चढाएर सहर घुमाइयो । त्यो बेला नेपालमा भर्खरैमात्र जहाज चल्न थालेको थियो । हाल त्रिभुवन अन्तराष्ट्रिय विमानस्थल रहेको स्थान त्यो बेला गौचरन थियो । त्यही चौर सम्याएर भारतीय विमान सेवाले साताको एकपटक कलकत्ता काठमाडौं हवाई सेवा चलाएको थियो ।
भारतीय दूतावासमा शरण लिएका राजालाई जहाजमा दिल्ली लैजाने तयारी हुँदै थियो । यसबीच राणाहरु उनलाई दिल्ली जान नदिने रणनीतिमा लागे । केही उपाय नलागेपछि हवाई मैदानमा जताततै खाल्डो खनाई दिए । त्यतिले नपुगेर थोत्रा ट्रक तेस्र्याएर अवरोध गरे । भारत सरकारको चर्को दबाबपछि गौचरमा राखिएका ट्रक हटाइए । कात्तिक २५ गते भारतीय राजदूत चन्द्रेश्वर नारायण सिंहले श्री ३ मोहनशमशेरलाई भारतमा रहँदा राजा कुनै किसिमको राजनीतिमा सहभागी हुने छैनन् भन्ने प्रधानमन्त्री नेहरुको सन्देश सुनाए । अनिमात्र राजा र राजपरिवारलाई भारत लैजाने अनुमति राणा सरकारले दियो ।
दिल्ली एयरफोर्सका दुई विशेष जहाज काठमाडाैं विमानस्थलमा उत्रिए । अनि त्रिभुवन राजपरिवारका १७ सदस्यसहित दिल्लीका लागि उडे ।
राजा भारत जाने घोषणा भारतीय आकाशवाणी रेडियोमा प्रसार भएको भोलिपल्टै कात्तिक २५ गते साँझ महावीर शमशेरको हिमालयन एयरवेजको जहाजबाट काठमाडौंमा घरका छाना छाना र सडक गल्लीभर राणा विरोधी पर्चा छरियो । फाट्टफुट्टमात्र जहाज देखेका काठमाडाैंवासीले उपत्यका थर्किने गरी निक्कै बेर अकाशमा फनफनी जहाज उँडेको पहिलोपटक त्यही बेला देखेका थिए । त्यो दिन वीरगन्जदेखि काठमाडौंसम्म पर्चा छरियो ।
कात्तिक २६ र २७ गते त्यही जहाजवाट फेरि नेपालको पूर्वी भागदेखि काठमाडौंसम्म रातो रंगको पर्चा छरियो । पर्चामा नेपाली सैनिकहरुलाई राजा त्रिभुवनको समर्थन गर्न अपिल गर्दै जहाजबाट बम खसालेर राणाहरुलाई समाप्त पार्ने चेतावनी दिइएको थियो । पर्चा छरेलगत्तै नेपाली कांग्रेसको मुक्ति सेनाले वीरगन्जमा धावा बोल्यो ।
सिंहदरबार वरिपरि निकै बेर घुमेर जहाजले पर्चा फालेपछि प्रधानमन्त्री मोहनशमशेरको सातो उडेको थियो । जहाजबाट बम फालेर उडाई दिनसक्ने त्रासका कारण कात्तिक २५ (२००७) गतेदेखि उनी सिंहदरबारमा सुत्न सकेनन् । दरबारको दक्षिणपट्टि बरफवागमा सुत्न थाले ।
त्यस दिन जहाजमा सवार भई पर्चा छर्नेमध्येका एक कांग्रेस नेता रामहरी जोशीले लेखकलाई सुनाएका छन् — ‘जनता दैनिकका एक पत्रकार सहित म पनि जहाजमा थिएँ । पटनाबाट उँडेको जहाजमा पाइलटले नेपालको नक्सा राखेका थिए । उनी कराउँदै फलानो ठाउँ आयो भन्थे । हामी त्यही आधारमा पर्चा खसाल्थ्यौँ । सबैभन्दा बढी पर्चा विराटनगरमा खसायौँ । फेरि चक्कर लगाएर हेर्याैँ । माथिबाट हेर्दा सडक रातै देखिन्थ्यो । पूर्वतिरबाट पर्चा खसाउँदै काठमाडौं उपत्यका छिर्न खोजेको मौसमका कारण पहिलो प्रयास सफल भएन । फर्किएर इलाम, दार्जिलिङ पुग्याैँ । फर्किएर साँझ काठमाडाैं आयौँ र पर्चा छर्यौँ । जोशीका अनुसार कांग्रेसले छरेको पर्चामा लेखिएको थियो ‘आजदेखि हाम्रो क्रान्ति सुरु भयो । तपाईँहरु सबै तयार रहनुहोला । यो राणा शासन छिट्टै खत्तम हुनेवाला छ ।’
तिनताका नेपाली आकाशमा त्यसरी जहाज उँड्दैनथ्यो । तर, कांग्रेसका क्रान्तिकारीहरुले घरको छतभन्दा केही माथिबाट जहाजमात्र उडाएनन् सेनाको ब्यारेकभित्रै पर्चा खसाई दिए । राणा फौजको सातो गयो । ‘जहाजले बम खसाल्ने भयो भन्ने हल्लाले राणा फौज आत्तिएर आत्मसमर्पण गर्ने मनःस्थितिमा पुगेको कुरा मातृकाप्रसाद कोइरालाले आफ्नो अनुभवमा लेखेका छन् । राणा फौज कति डराएको थियो भने थुनामा रहेका बन्दी छोड्दै सैनिक अधिकारीहरु भन्न थाले — ‘ल हजुर हामीलाई वचाई दिनु ।’ एक जना कप्तान त अत्तालिँदै ब्यारेकबाट बाहिरिए र अरु सैनिकलाई भन्न थाले ‘ल सुत है । बम पनि झार्न सक्छ ।’ बमभन्दा ठूलो शक्ति प्रवाह गरेको थियो त्यो पर्चाले ।
अन्तिम राणा प्रधानमन्त्री मोहनशमशेरपछि प्रधानमन्त्रीको रोलक्रममा रहेका बबर शमशेरका नाती कांग्रेस नेता सागर शमशेर राणाले ति दिन बारे लेखकलाई सुनाएका छन् — राणा परिवारका सदस्यले १६ वर्ष पुगेपछि मात्र सिंहदरबार गएर महाराजको दर्शन गर्नुपथ्र्याे । म सानै भएकाले जाँदैनथेँ । तर, घरमा खासखुस चल्दा कांग्रेसको त्रास खुब थियो । निक्कै कुरा भएको सुन्थेँ कांग्रेसको शक्ति कति छ भन्ने विषयमा ।
राणाले सुनाए मेरो बुबा (मृगेन्द्रशमशेर) मुमा र म कलकत्ता गएका थियौ । के कारण हो थाहा छैन । बुबा, म, आमा र दिदी थियाैं त्यहाँ । त्यही बेला राजा दिल्ली गएको र कांग्रेस बढेको खबर आयो । जहाजबाट नेपाली कांग्रेसले पर्चा छर्यो । हामी राणा शासन टिकाउने पक्षमा हुने नै भयौँ । त्यहाँ रमाइलो कुरा भयो । कांग्रेसीले पर्चा खसाए । हाम्रो बुबाको एकजना साथी थिए — पाइलट मिष्टर वेदर अल । दुई जनाको कुरा भयो, हामी पनि एउटा जहाज लगेर पर्चा खसाऊँ ।
पर्चा छरेलगत्तै कांग्रेसले वीरगन्ज कब्जा गर्यो । केही दिनपछि काठमाडौंबाट मद्दतमा गएको राणा फौजले वीरगन्ज फिर्ता गरायो । अनि राणाहरुले पनि एउटा भाडाको जहाजबाट सहर भर पर्चा छरे ।
लडाइँ जारी रहँदा कांग्रेसको मुक्ति सेनाले काठमाडौं बाहिरका धेरै सहर कब्जा गर्यो । अन्नतः दिल्लीमा राजा, राणा र कांग्रेसबीच त्रिपक्षी सम्झौता भयो । एक सय चार वर्षे राणा शासनको अन्त्य भयो । यसरी २००७ कात्तिक २२ गतेपछि फागुन ७ गतेसम्म नेपालमा एक साथ त्रिभुवन र ज्ञानेन्द्र दुई राजा भए । राणाले बनाएका नाबालक राजा ज्ञानेन्द्रलाई जनताले मानेनन् । अन्नतः २००७ साल फाुगन ७ गते राजा त्रिभुवन नै पुनःस्थापित भए ।
