सुशील दा जीवन भर लो प्राफाइलमा वस्नु भयो । सामान्य जीवन यापन गर्नु भयो । बाँचुञ्जेल सिद्धान्त अनुरुपको व्यवहार गर्नु भयो । २०१७ सालको राजनीतिक कु पछि बीपी र बीपीको निधनपछि गिरिजाबाबुलाई सघाउनु भयो । बीपीको सफलतामा गिरिजाबाबु र गिरिजाबाबुको सफलतामा सुशील दाको योगदान छ । तर सुशील कोइराला आफ्नो इमान्दारीता, सादगिपूर्ण जीवन शैली र नैतिक वलमा स्थापित हुनु भएको हो । उहाँले कुनै विश्वविद्यालयमा उच्च शिक्षा लिनु भएको थिएन, राम्रो वक्ता पनि होइन, आश्वासन वाड्नु भएन, एक पटक १९ महिनाका लागि प्रधानमन्त्री हुनु भयो र बीपी, गणेशमान, किसुनजी, गिरिजाबाबुले जीवनकालमा चाहेर पनि गर्न नसकेको काम संविधानसभाबाट संविधान जारी गरेर इतिहास रच्नु भयो । प्रधानमन्त्री हुँदा संविधान र कानून विपरित कुनै काम गर्नु भएन । गर्न लगाउनु भएन र सत्ताबाट वेदाग फर्किनु भयो । सुशील दाले देखाउनु भएको वाटोमा हामी हिड्न सक्यौ भने लोकतन्त्र माथि कसैले औला ठड्याउन सक्ने छैन, जनताले नेताको चरित्र वारे आवाज उठाउनु पर्ने छैन र सुशासन कायम भएर मुलुक विकासको वाटोमा जाने छ ।

२०८० साउन २७ गते पूर्व प्रधानमन्त्री सुशील कोइरालाको ८४ औं जन्म दिवस । नेपाली राजनीतिमा मूल्य, मान्यता, र नैतिकताको खडेरी देखा परेको, भ्रष्टाचार, अनियमितता, कुशासनले मुलुक थला परेको बेला उहाँलाई कसरी स्मरण गर्ने । म शैक्षिक तथा बैकिङ क्षेत्रमा काम गरि रहेको मानिस, सुशील दाले विश्वास गरेर अवसर दिनु भयो । उहाँको निजी सचिवका रुपमा काम गर्दा मलाई नेपाली राजनीतिक इतिहासको त्यो सर्वाधिक कठिन कालखण्डमा संविधानसभाबाट संविधान जारी गर्ने जिम्मेवारी कसरी पूरा गर्नु होला भन्ने लागि रहन्थ्यो । बीपी, गणेशमानजी, किसुनजी, गिरिजाबाबु जस्ता राजनेताले जिवनमा गर्न नसकेको काम सुशील दाले कसरी गर्नु होला ? त्यो कालखण्डका एक एक घटना मेरो स्मृतिमा छन् । संविधानसभाबाट संविधान जारी गर्ने एक सुत्रीय लक्ष्यमा हुनुहुन्थ्यो सुशील दा । बीपीले चाहेर पनि गर्न सक्नु भएन, उहाँको सपना पुरा गर्ने मैले कुनै कसर राख्नु हुन्न भन्नुहुन्थ्यो ।
आजको अवसरमा म विदेश पढ्न जाँदाको एउटा घटना राख्न चाहन्छु । जुन मेरो स्मरणमा सधै रहन्छ ।
उच्च शिक्षाका लागि रूस जाने तयारीमा थिएँ । उड्ने केही दिन अघि काका सुशील कोइराला (सुशील दा)को आशीर्वाद लिन पुगेँ । सधैँ शिक्षालाई उच्च महत्व दिने उहाँ म ज्ञान आर्जनका लागि विदेश जान लागेकोमा असाध्यै खुसी हुनुहुन्थ्यो । मैले ढोग गर्दै गर्दा उहाँका हात मायापूर्वक मेरो टाउकोमा थिए । अनि सुशील दाले भन्नुभयो, “अतुल, तिमीसँग केही माग्छु दिन्छौ त ?” म छक्क परेँ । असाध्यै मितब्ययी र लोभलालच नभएका सुशील दाले आफ्ना लागि के माग्न लाग्नु भएको होला भनेर म अचम्मित भइराखेको थिएँ । त्यसैबीच उहाँले भन्नुभयो, “तिमीले आफ्नो अध्ययन पूरा गरेपछि मलाई एउटा फाउन्टेन पेन ल्याइदिनू ।” कुरा २०४८ सालको हो । ति दिन आम मानिसबीच डटपेनको चाहना बढ्दो र फाउन्टेन पेनको प्रयोग घट्दो थियो । इमान्दारीपूर्वक भन्छु : उहाँले फाउन्टेनपेन मागेको सुनेर एक छिन त म चकित भएँ । अनि विगत सम्झिएँ, प्रायः महत्वपूर्ण कुराहरू लेख्दा सुशील दा फाउन्टेन पेन नै प्रयोग गर्नुहुन्थ्यो । म त्यो दिन भूल्न सक्दिनँ । सुशील दाले फाउण्टेन पेन ल्याइदिनु भने पछि मैले सोधेको थिएँ, “हजुरलाई कुन रङ मन पर्छ ?” अनि मतिर एकोहोरो हेरेर भन्नुभयो, “नीलो । शान्ति र बौद्धिकताको प्रतीक । त्यही नीलो रङ, जो नेपाली जनताको मनमनमा छ । जसले नेपाली झन्डाको रातो भागलाई वरिपरिबाट घेरेको छ ।”
साँच्चै भन्नुपर्दा मलाई कलमका बारेमा खासै ज्ञान थिएन । त्यस पछि म रूस उडिहालेँ । त्यहाँ पुगेपछि जब मैले यस्तो कलमको मूल्य थाहा पाएँ, झन् आश्चर्यचकित भएँ ! त्यस्तो कलम महँगो मात्र थिएन, आफूसँग यस्तो कलम होस् भन्ने धेरैको चाहना पनि हँुदोरहेछ । अनि म सुशील दाका लागि फाउन्टेन पेन किन्ने सपना देख्न थालेँ र क्याम्पसमा काम गरेर कमाएको थोरै–थोरै पैसा जम्मा गर्न लागेँ । फर्किने बेला दुबई एयरपोर्टमा उहाँका लागि कलम किनेँं । जुन सुशील दाले खोजेजस्तै नीलो थियो, जो ‘यभ्स सेन्ट लरेन्ट’ले बनाएको थियो । भतिजो पढेर आएकोमा खुसी त हुनुभयो नै, मबाट त्यो कलम पाउँदा सुशील दाले देखाएको खुसी, सदा स्मरणमा आइरहन्छ । मैले कलम दिएँ । उहाँले तत्क्षण मसी हाल्न लगाउनुभयो । अनि सम्झनाका लागि केही हरफ लेख्नुभयो पनि । प्रायः सधैँ राजनीतिक काममा व्यस्त रहने र पारिवारिक कुरा गर्न नभ्याउने सुशील दाको प्रसन्न मुहार हेर्न लायक थियो । उहाँ त्यसरी प्रफुल्लित भएको क्षण विरलै देखेको छु । ति दिन देशको अवस्था कठिन थियो र उहाँ थुप्रै कुराले घेरिएको परिस्थितिमा हुनुहुन्थ्यो । कुनै कुराप्रति आशक्त नहुने उहाँ मैले दिएको कलमबाट यति धेरै खुशी भएको कुराले मलाई निकै आनन्दित तुल्यायो ।
सुशील कोइराला प्रधानमन्त्री भएको केही समयपछि मलाई उहाँको सचिवको जिम्मेवारी दिइयो । देशको अवस्था कमजोर थियो र विगतदेखिका घटनाहरूको प्रभाव देखिँदै जाँदा उहाँमाथि कामको चाप र जिम्मेवारी बढ्दो थियो । जनताको संविधान लेख्ने उहाँको उत्कट चाहनाले सार्थकता पाउने घडीमा उहाँमाथि यति धेरै जिम्मेवारी थियो भन्ने कुरा आज मलाई शब्दमा व्यक्त गर्न गाह्रो छ । त्यतिबेला उहाँले मलाई त्यही कलम साथमा लिन लगाउनुहुन्थ्यो, हरेक महत्वपूर्ण कुरा टिपोट गर्न लगाउनुहुन्थ्यो । र आवश्यक परेको बेला जब उहाँले आफैँ लेख्नु पर्ने बेला आउथ्यो, मैले त्यही कलम दिनुपथ्र्यो । यो भन्नु अतिशयोक्ति नहोला कि त्यही कलमले उहाँले व्यक्तिगत वा प्रधानमन्त्रीको हैसियतमा आफ्नो जीवनकै महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेजहरू लेख्नुभएको छ । तिनमा हस्ताक्षर गर्नुभएको छ । वि.सं. २०७२ सालको एउटा सम्झना अहिले पनि जीवन्त छ जतिवेला उहाँले मसँग त्यही कलम माग्नुभयो, र कागजमा केही लेख्नुभयो अनि फोन लगाउन भन्नुभयो । कागजमा भारतका प्रधानमन्त्री नरेन्द्र मोदीको नाम र नम्बर लेखिएको थियो । फोन लगाएँ । उहाँहरूबीच सौहार्दता आदानप्रदान भयो र एउटा महत्वपूर्ण विषयको टुङ्गो लाग्यो । मलाई अहिले लाग्छ, यदि मैले त्यस्तै नीलो कलम अहिलेका प्रधानमन्त्रीलाई दिन पाएँ भनेँ.....,
एक दिनको कुरा हो, सुशील दाको स्वास्थ्य कमजोर हुँदै गएको थियो । उहाँले मलाई आफ्नो छेउमा बोलाउनुभयो र त्यही कलम माग्नुभयो । अनि त्यो कलमसँगै केही महत्वपूर्ण कागजात दिनुभयो । उहाँले भनेको कुरा म कहिल्यै बिर्सने छैन, “नेपाल र नेपाली जनताका लागि नराम्रो हुने कुनै पनि कुरा यो कलमले नलेख्नु । तिमीले यो कुरा बुझ्नुपर्छ । यो कलम देश र जनताको हितमा मात्र प्रयोग हुनुपर्छ । कहिल्यै यसको दुरुपयोग नगर्नु र हुन पनि नदिनु ।” मैले त्यतिबेलादेखि नै त्यो कलम सधैँ साथमा राख्दै आइराखेको छु र कहिलेकाहीँ मात्र यसको प्रयोग गर्छु । यो नीलो कलमसँग जोडिने अर्का एक जना व्यक्ति पनि छिन्, मेरी बहिनी चर्चित अभिनेत्री मनिषा कोइराला । मनिषासँग नीलो कलमप्रति अनौठो लगाव छ । सानो छँदा उनी नीलो कलमले आफ्नो नाम छड्के अक्षरमा लेख्थिन् । मनिषा र मेरो भेटमा प्रायः उनी भन्ने गर्छिन्, “जीवनमा धेरै कलम पाएकी छु, धेरै ठूला ब्रान्ड भ्यालु भएका महँगा कलम किनेकी छु, तर त्यो नीलो कलम चाहिँ कहिल्यै बिर्सिन सक्दिन ।” किन होला ? केही भावनाहरू, केही यादहरू.... वास्तबमा बुझ्नै नसकिने खालका हुन्छन् । जस्तो त्यो नीलो कलम । जीवनमा कति कलम प्रयोग गरियो थाहा छैन । तर त्यही एउटा चाहिँ कलम सधैँ मन मस्तिस्कमा घुमिरहन्छ ।
