हाम्रो सल्लाह के भयो भने अमेरिकाले एसियनहरूको रोग पहिचान गर्न सकेन होला । त्यसैले दिल्लीमै उपचार गरौँ भन्ने रह्यो । तसर्थ, म पनि यहाँबाट दिल्ली गएँ । हाम्रो भेट दिल्लीमा भयो । यस बीचमा मलाई कति तनाव भयो भन्ने व्यक्त गर्ने शब्दहरू नै अहिले छैन । दिल्ली पुगेर डाक्टरसँग सम्पर्क गरी हामी एपोलो अस्पताल गयौँ । रगतदेखि सबै परीक्षणहरू गरायौँ । तर यहाँ पनि डाक्टरहरूले रोग केही छैन, अति कमजोर छ, आराम गरेपछि राम्रो हुन्छ भन्नुभयो । यदि आराम मात्र गर्ने हो भने आफ्नै ठाउँमा जाउँ भनेर हामी नेपाल फर्कियौँ । नेपाल फर्केको अर्को दिनदेखि उहाँको खोकी यसरी बढ्यो कि हेर्न नै गाह्रो भयो । त्यसपछि केही बोतल स्लाइन पानी चढाउनु पर्यो भनेर डाक्टर दिलिप शर्माको सल्लाह बमोजिम थापाथलीस्थित ‘ब्लु बर्ड क्लिनिक’मा लगियो र स्लाइन चलाइयो । तर स्थितिमा सुधार देखिएन । लगत्तै नर्भिक अस्पतालका डाक्टरलाई डा. दिलिपले बोलाउनुभयो । अनि उहाँले केपी सरलाई देख्नासाथ र जाँच गरिसकेपछि तुरुन्त एम्बुलेन्स बोलाएर नर्भिक अस्पताल पुर्याउन लगाउनुभयो ।
थापाथलीस्थित नर्भिक अस्पताल पुर्याएपछि आवश्यक प्रक्रियाहरू पुर्याइसकेपछि उहाँलाई आइसीयुमा लगेर राखियो । नर्भिक अस्पतालमा हुँदा पनि भिजिटरको भिड अति नै थियो । सायद चौथो दिनमा नर्भिकबाट पुनः एयर एम्बुलेन्स् बोलाएर सिधै दिल्ली गुडगाउँस्थित मेदान्त अस्पताल लगियो । त्यतिबेला नर्भिक अस्पतालको अवस्थाबारे केही बुझ्ने र जान्ने अवसर मिल्यो । त्यहाँ बिरामीको कक्षमा जान नपाएका हजारौँ शुभचिन्तकहरूसँग मैले भेटेकी थिएँ । तीनचार दिन त थापाथलीमा मेला लागेजस्तै भएको थियो । मेरो बहिनी राधा शाक्य प्रसुति गृह अस्पतालकी स्टाफ नर्स भएको हुनाले हाम्रो लागि खानाको व्यवस्था उनैले गरेकी थिइन् । यसरी नर्भिकले पनि नसकेपछि मेदान्त लाने क्रममा देखेको त होइन सुने अनुसार नर्भिकदेखि एयरपोर्ट सम्म नै शुभचिन्तकहरूको भीड लागेको थियो रे । मलाई लाग्छ, नेपालमा एकजना व्यक्ति बिरामी हुँदा जनताको ठूलो चासो यही नै पहिलो थियो कि ?
एयर एम्बुलेन्स्मा राजेशलाई साथमा पठाएर म र इन्द्र भण्डारी नियमित उडानबाट दिल्ली उड्यौं । हामी एयरपोर्टबाट सिधै अस्पताल गयौँ । तर हामी पुग्दासम्म पनि केपीजीलाई पुर्याएको थिएन । हामीलाई झन् बढी तनाव भयो । एयर एम्बुलेन्स् अवतरण हुन सकेन कि भन्ने पनि लाग्यो । दिल्लीस्थित मेदान्त अस्पताल बाहिर नेपाली साथीहरू र दूतावासका कर्मचारीहरू पनि प्रतीक्षारत थिए । उहाँलाई अस्पताल ल्याइपुर्याउँदा अँध्यारो भइसकेको थियो । जनकपुर निवासी उक्त अस्पतालमा कार्यरत एक जना टेक्निसियन भाइले भर्नाको लागि आवश्यक व्यवस्था गरिदिए । अनि राति हामी नजिकको गेस्ट रुममा गएर बस्यौँ । मेदान्त अस्पतालको वरिपरि विभिन्न स्तरका धेरै नै गेस्टहाउसहरू रहेछन् । हामी त्यहाँ पुग्नासाथै धेरै एजेण्टहरूले आ–आफ्नो गेस्टहाउसमा हामीलाई लैजाने प्रयास गरेका थिए । त्यसैले एपोलोमा उपचार गराउँदा जस्तो बस्नको लागि दुःख यहाँ भएन । ठिकै खालका दुई तीन वटा कोठा लिएका थियौँ । खाना पकाएर खाने ठाउँ र सामानहरू पनि थिए । साथै रेस्टुराँबाट मगाएर पनि खान सकिन्छ । खाने, बस्ने सवालमा यस पटक मैले धेरै दुःख भोग्नु परेन । उता बिरामीलाई सुरुदेखि नै ‘आइसीयु र सीसीयु’मा भर्ना गरेको हुनाले हामी कुरुवा बस्नु परेको थिएन । त्यहाँ प्रत्येक दिन दुई पल्ट दुई जना भिजिटरलाई मात्र अनुमति दिइएको हुन्छ । म प्रत्येक दिन भिन्न भिन्न व्यक्तिहरू पठाउँथेँ । म गेस्टहाउसमा बस्ने र सुत्ने अनि बिहानको खाजा खाएर हिँडेरै अस्पताल पुग्ने गर्थें । अनि अस्पतालको सेरोफेरोमै दिन बिताउने गर्दथेँ । खाली पैसा मात्र हुनुपर्दछ । चिया, कफी, स्न्याक्स् खाने, नास्ता र बिहान–बेलुकाको खाना खाने ठाउँहरू छुट्टाछुट्टै थिए । सरसफाइ पनि राम्रै छ । अस्पतालमा ओपीडी क्लिनिक वार्डहरू धेरै भएकोले दिनभरि नै मानिसहरूको चहल पहल बाक्लै हुने गर्थ्यो । अस्पताल आउने, जाने धेरै मानिसहरूमा खुट्टा दुख्ने समस्या छ कि भन्ने मलाई लागेको थियो । प्रायः मानिसहरू खुट्टा खोच्याउँदै हिँडेको देखिन्थ्यो । अलि पाका महिलाहरूलाई त हिँड्न समस्या देखिएको थियो ।
बाहिर हामी जस्ता विदेशका बिरामी र उनीहरूका सहयोगीहरूका लागि काउन्सिलिङ् गर्ने, सुझाब लिने छुट्टै कोठा या युनिट पनि व्यवस्था रहेछ । त्यसैले पनि मलाई यहाँ धेरै कुराहरूमा सहयोग पुगेको छ । माथि वार्डमा केपीजीलाई राखेको ठाउँमा सिसा या प्लास्टिकले घेरिएको कोठा रहेछ । भर्ना गरेको तीन चार दिन हुँदा पनि स्वास्थ्यमा खासै सुधार नदेखिएपछि उहाँको मुख र घाँटीबाट मेसिन भित्र पठाएर छातीमा टाँस्सिएको खकार निकाली टेस्ट गर्न एक जना लेडिज डाक्टर तयारीका साथ आउनुभयो र फर्ममा सही गर्न मलाई बोलाउनुभयो । उहाँले भन्नुभयो कि उहाँको रोग के हो ? पत्ता लगाउनको लागि हामी ब्रोन्कोस्कोपी गर्न लागेका छौँ । एक त उहाँ मिर्गौला प्रत्यारोपण गरेको व्यक्ति, दोस्रो एकदम कमजोर अवस्था त्यसैले उहाँको खकार निकाल्ने क्रममा अप्ठेरो परेमा भेन्टीलेटरमा राख्नुपर्ने हुन्छ र त्यहाँ राखिसकेपछि जीवित फर्केर आउनेमा अली शङ्का हुन्छ भन्ने ढंगले कुरा गरे । यी सबै कुरा सुनेपछि मैले फर्ममा सही गर्न सकिनँ । मैले आज नगरौँ म सबैसँग सल्लाह गर्छु र तपाईंलाई खबर गर्छु भनेँ । त्यसपछि डाक्टरको टोली फर्कियो ।
अघि डाक्टरको टोलीले भनेको कुराले मलाई ठूलो पहिरोले थिचेजस्तो भयो । अब भेन्टिलेटरमा राख्न दिनु भनेको सिधै फर्केर नआउने भनेजस्तो आशयको कुरा उनीहरूले गरे । त्यो कुराकानी सुनेदेखि नै आफूले टेकेको जमिन हल्लिएजस्तो भयो । खु्ट्टा लुलिएर थचक्क भइएला जस्तो भयो । वरिपरिको वातावरण एकतमासको लाग्यो, संसार फन्फनी घुमेजस्तो भयो । म रोउँ कि, यहीँ थचक्कै बसुँ कि । रोएर समस्या समाधान हुने त होइन । तर, परिस्थिति त्यस्तो भएपछि तर्कले काम गर्दाे रहेनछ । रोएर केही हुन्न भन्दाभन्दै म धेरै रोएँ । रातभर आँखा झिमिक्क भएन । काठमाडौंमा पार्टीका साथीहरू, मैले चिनेका डा. दिलिपकुमार शर्मा र डा. कैलाश भण्डारी, दिल्लीका डा.अखिलेश्वर मिश्र, डा.अनन्त, डा. राजिव शर्मा आदिलाई फोन गरेँ । उनीहरूसँग सल्लाह मागेँ । डा. दिलिप र डा. कैलाशलाई जसरी भए पनि तपाईहरू दिल्ली आउनु भनेर अनुरोध गरेँ । मध्यरातमा डा. राजिव र उहाँका म्याडम, डा. गीत मलाई भेट्न गेस्टहाउस आउनुभयो । नआत्तिन र धैर्य गर्न भन्नुभयो । भोलिपल्ट बिहानैको फ्लाइटबाट डा. दिलिप शर्मा र डा. कैलाश पनि दिल्ली पुग्नुभयो । हामी सबै भएर अस्पतालका प्रमुख डाक्टरसँग कुरा गर्यौँ ।
मैले भनेँ, केपी ओली मेरो श्रीमान मात्र नभएर एउटा जिम्मेवार पार्टीको नेता समेत भएकोले मैले मात्र कुनै कुराको निर्णय दिन सक्दिन । अर्कोतिर नेपालबाट दुई जना डाक्टरहरू आएपछि म ढुक्क भएँ । उहाँहरूले जे निर्णय गर्नुहुन्छ त्यसैमा मेरो पनि सहमति हुन्छ भनेँ । म उहाँहरूमाथि विश्वास गर्छु र भरोसा राख्छु । सबै जिम्मा डाक्टर दिलिप र डा. कैलाशलाई दिएपछि अस्पतालका सम्बन्धितहरूसँग छलफल गरियो । तर पछि ब्रोन्कोस्कोपी गर्नु नपर्ने निर्णय भयो । यसपछि थप एक हप्ता गरी जम्मा १४ दिनको दिन केपीजी डिस्चार्ज हुनुभयो । डिस्चार्ज हुनुभन्दा एकदिन अगाडि उहाँलाई आइसीयुबाट जनरल वार्डमा सारिएको थियो । जेनरल वार्डमा ल्याएपछि उहाँलाई नुहाइदिन खोज्दा शरिरमा हाडमा टाँसिएको छाला बाहेक शरीरमा मासु भन्ने छैन कि जस्तो लाग्यो । उहाँलाई यतिको दुब्लो त मैले कहिल्यै देखेको थिएन । शरीरमा कहीँ, कतै एउटा सुई रोप्ने ठाउँ पनि छैन जस्तो लाग्छ । यसरी निमोनियाबाट बचाएर २०६९ को तिहारको लक्ष्मीपूजाको अघिल्लो साँझ डिस्चार्ज गरी अस्पताल बाहिर आयौँ । डिस्चार्ज गरी उहाँलाई सिधै गेस्टहाउसमा लगेँ । एक छिन त्यहाँ आराम गराई त्यसै रात डा. राजिव र गीत शर्माको निवासमा बस्न गयौँ ।
