पद्मशमशेरले सोधेछन्, ‘के तँलाई आईए हुन मन लाग्यो ?’ उनले भनेछन्, ‘हो, सरकार ।’ त्यस बेला शिक्षा समिति भन्ने हुन्थ्यो । त्यसको डाइरेक्टर जनरल मृगेन्द्रशमशेर थिए । पद्म शमशेरले मृगेन्द्रशमशेरलाई तुरुन्तै दरबारमा बोलाएछन् र भनेछन्, ‘ल यसलाई आईए हुन मन लाग्यो रे, यसलाई सर्टिफिकेट दे ।
काठमाडौंका बोधविक्रम अधिकारी नेपालीमा एमए गर्ने नेपालको पहिलो व्यक्ति थिए । उनी दरबारमा पढाउँथे पनि । उनले लेखेको नेपाली दन्त्यकथा भन्ने किताब हामीले कोर्समा पढेका पनि हौ ।
२००४÷५ सालमा प्रधानमन्त्री भएपछि पद्मशमशेरले शिक्षा आवश्यक छ भनेर राष्ट्रव्यापी आधार शिक्षा भन्ने अभियान सुरु गरे । यसमा ९, १० कक्षा पढेका वा एसएलसी पास गरेका विद्यार्थीले गाउँमा गएर कमसेकम दुई वर्ष पढाउनुपर्ने व्यवस्था थियो ।
बोधविक्रमका दुईजना छोरा गुणविक्रम अधिकारी र कल्याणविक्रम अधिकारी, एसएलसी पास गरिसकेका थिए । कल्याणविक्रम गर्भनर र मुख्यसचिव पनि भए गुणविक्रम पहिले शिक्षण व्यवसायमा र पछि सरकारी जागिरमा लागे ।
दरबारका गुरु भएकाले बोधविक्रमका छोरालाई पनि गाउँमा पठाउनुप-यो भन्ने कुरा भएछ । बूढा घरमा आएर भनेछन्, ‘यस्तो यस्तो उर्दी छ, यिनीहरू दुवैजनालाई गाउँमा पठाउनुपर्ने भयो ।’ गुणविक्रम, कल्याणविक्रम दुवैजना रुँदै भन्न थालेछन्, ‘हामी जान्नौ।’
बूढाले भनेछन्, ‘रोएर यहाँ चल्दैन, सरकारको हुकुम हो, मैले भन्यो भने त मेरो जागिर पनि जान्छ, तिमीहरूलाई दरबार लगिदिन्छु तिमीहरू नै गएर बिन्ती गर ।’
उनीहरूलाई दरबार लगिदिएछन् । उनीहरूले भनेछन्, ‘सरकार हामी त पढ्छौ, हामी गाउँ जान्नौ ।’ पछि पढौँला, अहिले दुई वर्ष जाऊ भनेछन् । उनीहरू रोईकराई गरेछन् के–के भनेछन्, त्यसपछि उनको मन पग्लिएछ क्यारे, दुईमध्ये एकजना यही बसेर पढ, एकजना त जानैपर्छ भनेछन् । त्यसपछि दाइ गुणविक्रम गाउँ जाने, भाइ कल्याणले पढ्ने सल्लाह भएछ । तर, गुणविक्रमले मानेनछन् ।
‘म दुई वर्षपछि आउँदा त भाइले आईए गरिसक्छ,’ भनेर रुन थालेछन् । बोधविक्रमले भनेछन्, ‘जा तैले नै बिन्ती गर ।’ गुणविक्रम फेरि दरबार गएर रुन थालेछन्, ‘मैले पनि पढ्न पाऊँ सरकार, दुई वर्षपछि म आउँदा भाइले आईए पास गरिसक्छ ।’
