बनारसमा पढ्दा प्रारम्भिक दिनहरुमा म, शैलजा आचार्य र चक्र बाँस्तोला मध्ये शैलजालाई मात्र राजनीतिमा धेरै चासो थियो । चक्र र म दुवैलाई साहित्यमा असाध्यै चासो थियो । हामीले एउटा पत्रिका निकाल्यौ । रहर नामक त्यो पत्रिकाको नामाकरण मैले नै गरेको थिए । चक्रजीले रहर नाम त अलि हुन्न की भनेर प्रतिवाद पनि गर्नु भएको हो । विद्यार्थीले रहरमा निकाल्ने पत्रिकाको नाम रहर नभएर के हुन्छ त भने पछि उहाँ सहमत हुनु भयो । पत्रिकाको नाम टुङगो लागेपछि दुई अंक छाप्यौ । मदन पुस्तकालयमा त्यसको अभिलेख सुरक्षित छ । तेस्रो अंकको तयारीमा थियौं । छाप्ने वन्दोवस्त पनि भैसकेको थियो । प्रेसमा कागज तयारी अवस्थामा थियो तर पनि छाप्न सकेनौ । किन भने त्यतिञ्जेल म छात्रपरिषद्को अध्यक्षमा निर्वाचित भैसकेको थिए । नेता भएपछि रचनात्मक काम गर्नु हुदैन भन्ने कुरा राजनीति गर्नेहरुका विच संस्कृति नै वनि सकेको थियो । नेताले त ठूला ठूला भाषण गर्ने पो त, क्रान्तिका कुरा गर्ने हो । रचनात्मक काममा अल्झिने हो र ? नेता भए पछि अरु जे गरे पनि रचनात्मक काम गर्नु हुदैन भनेर हामीले पनि सिकि सकेका थियौं । पत्रिका छाप्ने, किताव लेख्ने । यि दुवैलाई कन्ट्रक्टिभ काम हुन् । राजनीति गरे पछि कन्ट्रक्टिभ काम गर्नु हुन्न भन्ने लाग्यो मलाई । मलाई धेरै पछि मात्र ज्ञान प्राप्त त्यो वेला गलत गरिए छ । राजनीति गर्नेले अरु भन्दा वढी कन्ट्रक्टिभ काम गरेर समाजलाई बाटो देखाउनु पर्ने रहेछ । छात्रसंघको अध्यक्ष भएपछि संगठन विस्तारका क्रममा म नेपाल आए । पक्राउ परे । म जेलमै थिए । बीपी राष्ट्रिय मेलमिलापको नीति लिएर स्वदेश फर्किनुभयो । वनारसमा रहदा नै शसस्त्र क्रान्ति र विमान अपहरण काण्डपछि म बीपीबाट टाढा टाढा हुदै गएको थिए । त्यो कदमलाई मैलै स्वीकार गर्न सकेको थिएन ।
